Whitehorse – Aurora Borealis and Winter Adventure Tour

Day 1 – Arrival

Luxury 6 passenger private aircraft will transport you to Whitehorse.

  • Night-time Aurora viewing – overnight
  • Airport transfer to downtown hotel – close to restaurants, banks and shopping
  • Dress in your winter clothing
  • 10 pm: depart for Aurora viewing from a cozy heated cabin or wall tent with hot drinks and snacks.
  • Return to Hotel at 3am approx

Day 2 – City Tour & Southern Lakes Resort

Overnight Aurora viewing from a log cabin at Southern Lakes Resort

Snooze until 10am
Take a city tour of local attractions including Main Street, the old Train depot, log skyscrpaer, an historic log church, Sternwheeler SS Klondike, the fish ladder and Schwatka Lake.

At 1pm depart the hotel to arrive at Southern Lakes Resort at 2:30. From the cabin there are views of majestic mountain scenery as well as the opportunity for a lakeside walk. A three course dinner is served at 6:30. The Aurora Borealis may be viewed from the cabin or by the lake.

Day 3 – Wildlife Preserve and Hot Springs

Approx. 4-5 Hours

Tour from Whitehorse 30 k to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve on a guided tour with exceptional photo opportunities. View Wood Bison, Bighorn Sheep, Musk Ox and Moose as well as many other animals in the wild.

Then relax in the hot pool at the Hot Springs viewing the winter landscape before returning to the hotel.

Day 4 – Dog sledding

Approx. 4 Hours

Transfer by van to the dog kennel outside Whitehorse, become familiar with the friendly dog team and learn how to harness the dogs to the sleds and then mush your own sled for a wonderful 4 hour adventure.

Day 5 – Ice Fishing and Snowshoeing

Approx. 4-5 Hours

A short drive takes you to a frozen lake where you learn to use snowshoes. With fishing gear walk across the frozen lake and fish through a hole – maybe catch a Lake Trout of Grayling and learn how to prepare your catch and cook it for a tasty lakeside feast with Bannock and wonderful views.

Day 6 – Snowmobile

Approx. 4-5 Hours

Transfer to the base camp and learn to drive a snowmobile. After instruction and a trial run drive your own snowmobile through the beautiful winter Yukon landscape.
